Title: Decision-Making Computations in Neuronal Networks
Recent advances in neuroscience provide a new perspective on how categorical decisions are computed in the brain and how the choice circuits performing such computations are organized. This knowledge was instrumental in developing the mechanistic model of the choice circuit based on the recurrent attractor network of binary neurons. The model produced biologically realistic network dynamics and behaviorally realistic predictions. The model was applied in the investigation of the impact of alpha oscillations on the decision process, speed-accuracy tradeoff (SAT), and Weber’s Law. During the seminar, I will present the key results from my doctoral dissertation.

Workshops entitled “Conducting qualitative interviews and group discussions about difficult topics and combining these with quantitative approaches” will be held on 22 February from 10:00 to 16:00.

We kindly invite you to attend an open lecture entitled “Neuroprotective properties of theranostic cerium oxide nanoparticles against neurotoxin-induced cellular models of Parkinson’s disease” which will be given by Dr. Rugmani Meenambal from the Maj Institute of Pharmacology PAS on Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 14.00.
Dr. Rugmani Meenambal is PASIFIC 1 fellow, who during her postdoctoral fellowship has been running an interdisciplinary project TheraLanOx entitled “Neuroprotective properties of theranostic lanthanide oxide nanoparticles against neurotoxin-induced cellular models of Parkinson’s disease” in the Department of Experimental Neuroendocrinology under supervision of Dr. Danuta Jantas and in the Jerzy Haber Institute of Catalysis and Surface Chemistry under supervision of Prof. Piotr Warszyński. During the lecture will be summarized the results obtained during realization of his two year’s project.
