Required documents

A candidate shall submit the application for admission to the School only in IRK [LINK]. It shall include:

  • the application for admission to the School, indicating the discipline in which the candidate plans to pursue education in or, if applying for admission to MSD – the disciplines and the leading scientific field(and if there is no leading field – the disciplines);
  • a scan of a diploma of completion of a long-cycle Master’s degree programme or a second-cycle programme; or an equivalent diploma obtained under separate regulations; or, in the case of candidates pursuing education within the European Higher Education Area – a certificate of obtaining a Master’s degree or a declaration that the diploma or certificate of obtaining a Master’s degree shall be provided by the day determined in the recriutment schedule;
  • Resume or curriculum vitae containing information on the scientific activity, including the candidate’s scientific interests and achievements in the five calendar years preceding the submission of the application; subject to §18(5), , including, but not limited to: publications, research and organizational work at student research groups, participation in scientific conferences, participation in research projects, awards and distinctions, research internships, training in research skills, activities popularising science,activity in representative bodies of a scientific movement, average university grade, professional career, knowledge of foreign languages;
  • scans of materials evidencing the scientific activity indicated in the resume or curriculum vitae;
  • a declaration of proficiency in English (at least B2 level);
  • a scan of the declaration of the prospective supervisor confirming the willingness to take on asupervisor’s role, including the number of doctoral students for whom he/she remains the designated supervisor, according to the modelenclosed in Appendix No. 4 to the Resolution, taking into account sections 6 and 7; additionally, the candidate may enclose a scan of the opinion of the prospective supervisor and opinions of other academics on the candidate and his/her scientific activity or research project proposal;
  • a photograph showing the applicant’s face so that he/she can be identified, as required by the IRK;
  • a statement on whether the candidate is or was a doctoral student or a participant of doctoral studies, or whether they have initiated a doctoral dissertation process, or whether proceedings to award them a doctoral degree have been initiated, and if so, the title of the doctoral dissertation or research project prepared by the candidate, with the name of his/her tutor or supervisor
  • a declaration that he/she is familiar with the contents of the Resolution [LINK to the website with document in Polish] and the contents of Art. 40 and Art. 41 of the Code of Administrative Procedure;
  • a description of the preliminary research project proposal (not longer than 14,000 characters with spaces; the limit does not include bibliography and graphs, maps, etc.), which can be attached as an annex in the form of a PDF file
    • the description of the preliminary research project proposal must specify the fields covered by the PhD project with the indication of the leading field; the research project proposal may also concern a single-field but interdisciplinary project, provided that the disciplines covered are of an equivalent nature – in this case the candidate shall attach a justification for the submission of the application to the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School; the description of the preliminary research project proposal must include a separate explanation on what qualities make the project interdisciplinary or cross-field.

In case a candidate’s diploma was issued in a language other than Polish or English, the candidate submits its certified translation. Additionally, the candidate shall be obliged to submit a translation of the titles of their scientific achievements. In justified instances, the Addmissions Coordinator or chairperson or the secretary of the qualification team may request that the candidate submit a translation of other documents or materials included in the application by a specified deadline.

In justified cases, the Admissions Coordinatiormay make the entry of a candidate on the list of doctoral students conditional on the submission of a translation of a particular document, including a certified translation, or a legalisation of a document (apostille) within a specified, appropriate time limit. The condition may also be stipulated in an administrative decision.
