MSD symposium 2024

On 10-12 May 2024, the Symposium of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School was held at the European Centre for Geological Education in Chęciny.

The proceedings were attended by doctoral students of all years, the Director of MSD, Prof. Paweł Stępień, the Deputy Director of MSD, Dr hab. Karol Samsel, and representing the School Council, Prof. Paulina Sosnowska and Prof. Marek Trippenbach.

The programme of the symposium included individual speeches by participants of the trip, papers introducing the ins and outs of the interdisciplinary workshop of a doctoral student, as well as thematic panels defining the directions of the School’s development, the mission of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, and the current needs of its doctoral students. Parallel to the School’s Symposium, there was a conference entitled. ‘Processes and Transformations in Complex Systems’ organised by the Centre for Systemic Risk Research at UW and the Centre for Advanced Studies at PW. Members of both events jointly watched the film ‘It is okay to panic’ and participated in a discussion on the climate crisis.

Despite the intense scientific programme, there was plenty of time for integration – there was a bonfire meeting, as well as an excursion to the Royal Castle in Chęciny and to Chęciny itself.

We would like to thank all those present for their participation and invite them to future editions of the MSD Symposium.
