Scientific article
In accordance with the provisions of Article 186(1)(3)(a) and (b) of the Act of 20 July 2018. – Law on Higher Education and Science (consolidated text: Journal of Laws of 2022, item 574, as amended), the award of a doctoral degree is possible after the prior publication of a scientific article or a scientific monograph or a chapter in a scientific monograph.
Article 186 (1) The degree of doctor shall be conferred on a person who:
3) has in his/her achievements at least:
(a) 1 scientific article published in a scientific journal or in the peer-reviewed proceedings of an international conference which, in the year of publication of the article in its final form, was included in the list drawn up in accordance with the regulations issued pursuant to Article 267(2)(2)(b), or
(b) 1 scientific monograph published by a publishing house which, in the year of publication of the monograph in its final form, was included in the list drawn up in accordance with the rules adopted pursuant to point 2(a) of Article 267(2), or a chapter in such a monograph, or
(c) an artistic work of major importance;
Accordingly, MSD doctoral students are obliged by Resolution No. 212 of the Senate of the University of Warsaw of 18 January 2023 on the study programme at the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School to write and publish (or at least accept for publication) a scientific article or a chapter in a scientific monograph by the sixth semester of study.
