About
The Interdisciplinary Doctoral School (MSD) stands out for its individualized approach to the doctoral student’s academic work, ensuring the development of their interdisciplinary competencies through the implementation of an original doctoral project under the guidance of two supervisors. The school educates doctoral candidates who not only take into account a variety of research perspectives in their pursuit of innovative and effective methodological solutions but are also prepared to address significant social, economic, and cultural challenges of the modern world through their research.
Ongoing reflection on the scope, possibilities, and innovation of doctoral workshops in the MSD is closely tied to the consistent integration of the doctoral student community. A key role is played by the integration seminar, which, on one hand, provides a synthetic overview of all doctoral projects within a given cohort, and on the other, enables critical discussions about the stages of their implementation, methodology, innovation, and interdisciplinary dimensions. These sessions are conducted in English, fostering and solidifying one of the core doctoral competencies—the ability to present research results, personal theses, and methodological solutions in both specialized and non-specialized international academic environments.
By supporting the education of young researchers who consider transcending the boundaries of disciplines and fields of science essential for the realization of doctoral projects, the IDS not only promotes scientific innovation but also actively co-creates it. Each doctoral student at the school undertakes their interdisciplinary project under the supervision of two supervisors representing different disciplines and/or fields of science. Intensive and regular collaboration within such a triad fosters the creation and validation of new interdisciplinary methodological approaches.
A significant aspect of the collaboration and integration of MSD doctoral students is the respect for their academic diversity. The complex and rich academic landscape of the school is co-created on the basis of equality by all its doctoral candidates. Both the integration seminar and the MSD doctoral students’ scientific symposia allow for the expression, recognition, and strengthening of the unique intellectual strengths of this community of young researchers.
