First MSD symposium

The 1st Symposium of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School was held at the European Centre for Geological Education in Chęciny on 27-28 May 2023. The purpose of the trip was to hold an Interdisciplinary and Cross-disciplinary Conference of MSD doctoral students of all years, willing to present lectures or reports related to the topics of their dissertations. The symposium, initiated by the doctoral students, turned out to be an ideal complement to the interdisciplinary ‘integrative’ MSD seminar, which is implemented by year of study.

The sessions were attended by doctoral students of all years, the Director of MSD, Prof. Paweł Stępień, the Deputy Director of MSD, Dr. Karol Samsel, and Prof. Paweł Golik, representing the School Council. The Symposium itself took a hybrid form, with some of the doctoral students presenting their speeches via videoconference.

The programme of the symposium included individual speeches by participants, papers introducing the principles of the interdisciplinary workshop of a doctoral student, as well as thematic panels defining the directions of the School’s development, the mission of the Interdisciplinary Doctoral School, and the current needs of its doctoral students.

We would like to thank all those present for their participation, and invite everyone to future editions of the MSD Symposium.
